We arrive in Zongo Pass at 9 am toross the valley and climb to the high camp at 5200, just few steps away from the glaciar that we will start on the other day. Whether is in thi period very unstable, usually after 9 am it begins to snow, rain, it´s too windy. We have to leave the camp at 3.45 am. At this time most of the groups already left some hours ago. We´re just too lazy to wake up 😉 Starting to walk on skis we move ahead very fast and also the altitude rises rapidly. We have to negotiate some crevases and some icy vertical parts before reaching the final slope to the peak.

There are some last groups going down giving us the chance to be alone at the summit. We enjoy the fantastic views around. The mountins are very Alps like that makes us feel more home. The top part is too icy and can not be skied easily and so we decide to use anchors to descent more sefely. Starting in 5850 to ski down the perfect snow we are descending much faster. At 1 pm we are at the camp after some realy impresive part and nice skiing.

As it´s friday, the bus is full and can not take us from Zongo pass back to La Paz, so we try to negotiate with police officers that came here to get fresh water for their office to take us to El Alto, a part of La Paz. We´re lucky back at the hostel and plan to make the death road downhill tomorow to Coroico, have a small rest in the subtropical area after our last ascents.

Stay tuned for another reports that will come soon!
